In line with the 4th year students' preparation to enter the field of research, a seminar entitled "Research Brigade: Research is Creating New Knowledge" was conducted last February 1, 2018 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC). Among the three esteemed speakers who shared their knowledge and experiences include Engr. Justin Timothy Vinluan, Engr. Cristina Tiangco and Dr. Edna Quinto.
Being recognized as one of the 30 National Awardees of BPI-DOST Science Awards 2016 for his research, Engr. Vinluan imparted some helpful tips including time management, academic prioritization and topic selection. With his engaging opening statement "Begin with the End in mind," he focused on teaching the ways of acquiring the right mind to start one's academic research. He also mentioned some helpful websites and various sources of information for acquiring the needed research literature.
Engr. Tiangco shared her research experiences as a visiting research scholar at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County - Center for Advanced Sensor and provided important guidelines and inspirations to the students. Together with Dr. Quinto, a veteran UST faculty researcher, they directed the students with the proper way of manuscript writing and paper processing for thesis experimentation at the TARC and Roque RuaƱo Building.
